This role is particularly well suited to support workers or individuals with care experience who are looking to transition into term-time-only work within a secondary school setting. The role involves personal care, manual handling, and hoisting, delivered with dignity, respect, and a strong focus on pupil wellbeing. About the Role As a Teaching Assistant / Support Worker in a secondary school PMLD setting, you will: • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with PMLD • Support pupils with personal care needs, including toileting and hygiene, in line with individual care plans • Carry out manual handling and hoisting safely, following training and risk assessments • Support the delivery of personalised, age-appropriate learning activities within a secondary school curriculum • Promote pupils’ communication, engagement, and emotional wellbeing • Encourage independence and life skills appropriate to pupils’ abilities • Work closely with secondary school teachers, therapists, and support staff • Help maintain a calm, structured, and inclusive secondary school environment About the Secondary School The school is a specialist secondary school for pupils with PMLD, where everything is centred on helping young people feel safe, respected, and engaged in learning.
