Axcis are looking for experienced support workers to fill morning, evening and weekend shifts at a variety of residential homes around Bristol. If you've only worked with adults before this can be your chance to transition into working with children.
You will be supporting children aged 4-19 years old with a range of learning disabilities and mental health difficulties from autism, complex needs and challenging behaviours in their homes. Shift patterns vary from a few hours, mornings, lates, long days and waking nights. Pay starts at £10 an hour and we pay weekly on a Friday a week in arrears.
Shifts are flexible and you can choose how many you want to do each week. We're looking for people who are looking to cover at least two shifts a week. The position is to provide support in all areas of personal and social needs within the home and the community. You will need to use hoists and support children with personal care. Experience of working with children or adults with complex needs is essential and many of them are non verbal. The ability to use Makaton and PECS and would be highly advantageous as well. Some of the children are 2-1 and experience of working with challenging behaviour is desirable especially if you have positive behaviour management training.
