SEND Teaching Assistant – 1:1 KS2 Support | Mainstream Primary Location: Christchurch, Dorset Pay: £95–£100 per day Hours: Full-Time, Term Time Only Start Date: October 2026 Setting: Mainstream Primary School with SEND Provision Axcis Education is recruiting for an experienced and caring SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive mainstream primary school in Christchurch from October 2026. This full-time role will focus primarily on providing 1:1 support to a KS2 pupil with SEND, helping them to access learning, manage the demands of the school day and develop greater confidence and independence within a mainstream classroom. The school has a strong inclusive ethos and provides a supportive environment for pupils with additional needs. You will work closely with the class teacher, SENDCO and wider support team to ensure the pupil receives consistent and personalised support. About the Role As a 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant, you will: Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a KS2 pupil within a mainstream classroom Support the pupil to access the curriculum and participate fully in school life Adapt learning activities and provide additional structure where required Develop a positive, trusting relationship with the pupil Support emotional regulation, engagement and positive behaviour Help with transitions and less structured parts of the school day, including break and lunchtime Encourage independence, confidence and positive social interaction Use appropriate strategies to support pupils with ASC, SEMH and communication needs Work closely with the class teacher and SENDCO to implement personalised support strategies Monitor progress and provide feedback to the wider school team Contribute to a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment Although the role is primarily 1:1 focused, you will also be part of the wider classroom team and may occasionally support other pupils within the class or SEND provision.
