Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant
SEND Teaching Assistant – Secondary School Location: SE6 Hours: Full time, Monday – Friday, 8.30am – 3.30pm Axcis are delighted to be working with a dedicated and welcoming SEND secondary school in the SE6 area, which caters for students with PMLD and ASD. The school has a fantastic reputation for its nurturing approach and commitment to helping every student achieve their personal best. We are seeking an experienced and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will be supporting students with a range of additional needs, including ASD, challenging behaviour, and PMLD. You will also be required to assist with personal care tasks, such as feeding and toileting, so a patient and understanding attitude is essential. Your Role Will Include: Providing one-to-one and small-group support for students with varying learning and physical needs Assisting with personal care and supporting students’ physical wellbeing throughout the day Helping to implement individual learning plans under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO Encouraging communication, independence, and engagement through creative and supportive strategies Promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment where every student feels valued and respected The Ideal Candidate Will Be: Calm, patient, and understanding, with a genuine passion for working with young people who have additional needs Resilient and confident in managing challenging or confrontational situations professionally and empathetically Resourceful and proactive, able to adapt to the needs of individual students A team player who communicates well and works collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff Comfortable working both individually and with small groups to promote engagement and learning Trial days are taking place ASAP, so if you are a dedicated and caring SEND Teaching Assistant ready for a new challenge, we’d love to hear from you!
