SEN Teaching Assistant – Social Communication & Autism – Primary – Havering From £89/day | Primary | Havering | Immediate Start | Full-Time | Long-Term Axcis are working with a warm, community-focused primary school in Havering who are seeking a passionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with autism and social communication needs. The school has a Good Ofsted rating, a caring leadership team and a strong reputation for inclusion. With parking on site and easy access to Overground and bus routes, it’s well connected for staff travelling from across East London and Essex. In this role, you will be: • Supporting children with autism and social communication challenges in class and small-group settings. • Using visual timetables, social stories and structured routines to aid understanding and reduce anxiety. • Encouraging turn-taking, play and interaction during group work and social time. • Liaising with teachers, the SENCO and speech therapists to deliver individual strategies and record progress. What we’re looking for: • Previous experience supporting pupils with autism or social communication difficulties. • Calm, patient and confident in using communication-focused approaches. • Familiarity with PECS, Makaton or similar visual supports is desirable. • A team player who’s flexible, proactive and child-centred.
