SEND Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support – English & Maths)
Location: Plymouth
Start Date: February 2026
Hours: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 9:00am–3:30pm
Pay: £90–£100 per day
Expenses: All expenses reimbursed
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to work full-time. This role involves providing 1:1 targeted English and Maths support to learners who are currently disengaged from mainstream education.
Working primarily from a classroom hub, with some outreach days across the Plymouth area, you will support pupils with additional academic and emotional needs, helping them rebuild confidence, re-engage with learning, and achieve positive outcomes.
The Role
Deliver tailored 1:1 Maths and English interventions outside of the mainstream classroom
Support pupils with additional needs, including those requiring emotional and behavioural guidance
Build positive, trusting relationships to encourage engagement and progress
Work independently across locations within Plymouth (mileage reimbursed)
Maintain accurate records and collaborate with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external professionals
The Ideal Candidate
Has previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, ideally within SEND or alternative provision
Demonstrates strong behaviour management with a calm, empathetic approach
Has a good understanding of SEND, including ADHD, ASD, and SEMH
Communicates confidently and builds strong professional relationships
Is confident delivering Maths and English at Key Stage 2 level
Holds a full UK driving licence and has access to a vehicle
