Job Title: SEND Primary Teaching Assistant Location: Sutton, London Hours: 8:00am-4:30pm, Full time Pay: Paid to scale Start Date: Monday 1st September Job Description: We are currently seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Primary Teaching Assistant to join our inclusive and supportive team at a thriving primary school based in Surrey. The ideal candidate will be someone with a strong desire to make a positive impact on the lives of children with various learning needs and disabilities, enabling them to access the curriculum and achieve their full potential. Key Responsibilities: • Provide tailored support to children with a range of special educational needs, including those with ASD, ADHD, learning difficulties, and physical disabilities. • Work closely with the classroom teacher to implement individual education plans (IEPs) and adapt learning materials to suit the needs of each child. • Assist with the planning and preparation of activities, ensuring they are suitable for children with SEND. • Encourage and assist children with their educational and social development, including supporting them with literacy, numeracy, and other key skills. • Monitor and record the progress of children with SEND, providing feedback to the classroom teacher and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator). • Effectively manage classroom behaviour, using appropriate strategies to support positive behaviour and engagement. • Assist with personal care needs of the students as required, while fostering their independence. • Collaborate with other professionals such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists as needed. • Participate in training and professional development opportunities related to SEND. • Engage with parents and guardians, keeping them informed of their child's progress and contributing to review meetings.
