Calling all compassionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistants looking for a rewarding role supporting young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)?
Axcis are currently recruiting for a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a welcoming and well-resourced specialist college in Bromley, South London. This is an exciting opportunity to support post-16 learners with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, physical disabilities, and complex learning needs.
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping students develop independence, confidence, life skills, and academic progress within a supportive educational environment.
Key Responsibilities
As a Learning Support Assistant, your duties will include:
• Providing high-quality 1:1 and small group support to learners with SEND.
• Supporting students in classroom-based and practical learning activities.
• Assisting with creative and vocational sessions, including arts, drama, cooking, and community-based learning.
• Encouraging independence, social development, and confidence-building.
• Supporting learners with communication, emotional regulation, and engagement.
• Promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Assisting with personal care where required, maintaining dignity and respect at all times.
• Working closely with teaching staff and other professionals to support individual learning goals.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a Learning Support Assistant who has:
• Experience supporting young people with SEND, ASD, ADHD, physical disabilities, or complex needs.
• Previous experience in a college, post-16, special educational needs, care, support work, healthcare, or educational setting.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• A patient, adaptable, and empathetic approach.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Confidence in providing personal care and supporting day-to-day living skills.
• A genuine passion for helping young people achieve their full potential.
