Job Title: SEND Interventon Tutor - Torbay
Axcis education are currently working with a secondary alternative provision in Torquay, who are looking for an Intervention Tutor to deliver catch up Mathematics, English and PSHE interventions for groups of pupils. This is a full-time position – Monday to Friday and is likely to become a permanent position for the successful candidate. School hours are 8.30-16:00.
If you are a qualified teacher, you will be paid against Main Pay Scale for Teachers. If unqualified, you will be paid against the Unqualified Pay scale for Teachers. This is likely to result in a permanent position for the successful candidate. You will be paid between £140-£200 a day, depending on your previous experience and qualifications.
The successful SEND Intervention Tutor will meet the following requirements:
- Have a ‘can do’ attitude.
- Can effectively manage behaviour and pupil engagement.
- Can appropriately plan interventions to address gaps in pupils’ knowledge.
- Effective communication skills, sharing information with colleagues, parents and outside agencies.
- Is a team player with a resilient attitude and positive mindset.
The school deliver an engaging provision for children who struggle to engage with learning in a mainstream learning environment. Therefore, you must be prepared for working with students who have complex needs and can become dysregulated at times and in some cases, presenting challenging behaviour. Ideally, you would have some previous teaching experience working with children or adults with complex needs in a SEND school or similar establishment.
