Location: Blandford, Dorset
Hours: Full-time – Monday to Friday
Pay: £89–£95 per day

Do you have a passion for supporting young children with additional needs at the very start of their education?
A friendly mainstream primary school in Blandford is looking to appoint a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to work within a Reception class. This role focuses on supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), helping them to settle into school life, access learning, and develop key social and communication skills.
You will be an important part of the classroom team, contributing to a nurturing and inclusive EYFS environment where children feel safe, understood, and supported to succeed.
The Role:
- Support pupils within a Reception class, encouraging participation, independence, and confidence
- Assist with behaviour support strategies to promote a settled and inclusive classroom
- Use positive and consistent approaches to support social interaction and emotional regulation
- Adapt activities and resources to meet individual learning needs and developmental stages
- Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCo to follow and review IEPs
- Observe, monitor, and share progress, recognising achievements and supporting next steps
- Engage in training and professional development opportunities
- Maintain high standards of safeguarding and adhere to school policies at all times
What We are Looking For:
- Experience working as a Teaching Assistant within an EYFS setting
- Knowledge and hands-on experience supporting children with ASC or additional needs
- A good understanding of the EYFS curriculum and early childhood development
- A relevant qualification (such as NVQ Level 2) or equivalent practical experience
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach, with strong resilience
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
- A flexible, proactive attitude to supporting pupils and staff
