Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Slough

Do you have the resilience, energy, and empathy to support young people with challenging behaviour and social, emotional, and mental health needs?
A specialist SEMH setting in Slough is looking for a confident and proactive Teaching Assistant to work closely with students who require consistent behavioural and emotional support.
This role is highly active and requires someone who is comfortable being on their feet for much of the day, engaging students and helping them stay focused and regulated.
The Role
You will support students who may experience:
Emotional dysregulation
Challenging or confrontational behaviour
Barriers to engagement in mainstream education
Your work will focus heavily on relationship-building, trust, and positive reinforcement.
Responsibilities include:
Supporting pupils in lessons and structured activities
Helping to de-escalate behavioural situations
Encouraging positive choices and engagement
Building strong, trusting relationships with students
Working closely with teachers and pastoral staff
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
Is emotionally resilient and calm under pressure
Has a natural ability to connect with young people
Is energetic and comfortable with a physically active role
Has experience with SEMH, behaviour support, youth work, or similar
Believes in restorative and relationship-based approaches
