Location: Sutton, London
Salary: £90–£100 per day
Hours: 8:00am–3:30pm, Monday to Friday
We are seeking a dedicated SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) Teaching Assistant to join our inclusive and supportive school in Sutton, London. You will play a vital role in enhancing the learning experience of students with a range of emotional and behavioural needs, helping them thrive both academically and personally.
What You’ll Be Doing:
• Providing tailored support to students, promoting emotional wellbeing, developing social skills, and helping them overcome barriers to learning.
• Working closely with the class teacher to implement differentiated strategies that engage and support students across the curriculum.
• Contributing to the preparation and adaptation of teaching resources and materials to meet individual needs.
• Facilitating small group interventions as well as one-to-one support where required.
• Monitoring and tracking student progress, reporting regularly to the class teacher and SENCO.
• Maintaining effective communication with staff, parents and external agencies to ensure a consistent approach to each learner’s development.
• Upholding the school’s policies on behaviour and safeguarding.
• Acting as a positive role model and fostering a nurturing learning environment.

What We’re Looking For:
• Previous experience supporting young people with SEMH needs, either in a school or alternative provision
• A resilient, patient and flexible approach, with excellent interpersonal skills
• Strong understanding of safeguarding and commitment to pupil welfare
• Relevant qualifications such as Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant (desirable)
