Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
SEMH Trauma-Informed Teaching Assistant Are you passionate about supporting young people facing social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges? The role: • Support students with SEMH needs to access and engage in learning • Encourage a calm, positive and safe learning environment • Assist with behaviour management using trauma-informed strategies • Collaborate with teachers and the SENCO to implement personalised support plans • Facilitate classroom activities while prioritising student wellbeing The candidate: • A genuine enthusiasm for helping young individuals succeed • Outstanding interpersonal skills – you can build trust and strong connections • Adaptability and proactivity – ready for anything, every day • Confidence in managing challenging behaviour with calm, clarity, and empathy • Resilience and composure in ever-changing, high-pressure scenarios • Prior experience in a teaching assistant role or working with children with ASC, ADHD, and challenging behaviour. • An understanding of safeguarding children and a commitment to their safety and wellbeing Why this role matters: You’ll be more than a Teaching Assistant – you’ll be a key influence in a young person’s journey.
