Primary Teaching Assistant – Specialist SEND Provision (New School Opening)
Location: North Bristol
Contract Type: Full-time, long-term (term-time only) – starting September (opportunities available in the summer term for the right candidate)
Pay: £14.25 per hour (approx. 35 hours per week) – temp-to-perm opportunity

About the Role
As a Primary Teaching Assistant in this specialist provision, you’ll support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, alongside other SEND such as ASD. You’ll work closely with teachers and a multidisciplinary team to provide tailored, consistent support that helps pupils feel safe, understood, and ready to learn.
Your role will include:
Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH and additional needs
Supporting emotional regulation, behaviour, and social development
Assisting with personalised learning plans and engaging activities
Promoting a positive, structured learning environment
Building strong, trusting relationships that encourage confidence and progress
Every interaction you have will contribute to helping pupils overcome barriers and achieve meaningful outcomes.

What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for compassionate, motivated individuals who are ready to make a difference. You might be an aspiring SEN Teaching Assistant, psychology graduate, or someone with hands-on experience supporting young people.
Essential:
At least 3 months’ experience supporting children or young people with SEND/SEMH (paid, voluntary, or personal)
A genuine passion for supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs
Patience, empathy, and resilience
Willingness to obtain (or already hold) an enhanced DBS
Desirable:
Experience with SEMH, Autism (ASC), or challenging behaviour
Relevant qualifications in education, psychology, or childcare
A proactive, team-focused approach
