Job Title: Primary Teaching Assistant, PMLD (profound and multiple learning difficulties) Ormskirk
Axcis Education is seeking to appoint an inspirational, motivated and passionate SEND teaching assistant to join a special needs unit within a primary school based in Ormskirk. Experience of working with children and young people with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), complex needs, autism and cerebral palsy is essential. As a SEND teaching assistant, you will be involved in supporting students who have mild to severe physical difficulties. You will need to be comfortable with moving and handling, hoists, feeding, toileting and personal care. Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate high aspirations for all learners and have a flexible approach and be able to meet their holistic needs. In return the school can offer a wonderful group of students who inspire and delight everyone they meet, a welcoming ethos built on respect and teamwork and a highly supportive leadership team and governing body. Applicants must have worked in special needs settings with children or have a nursing / care background, ideally you will hold a certificate in teaching assistant or health and social care, although qualifications are no essential. We anticipate that there will still be a need to fill this vacancy either on the expected timescale (as many of the schools we work with will remain open to support SEND/Keyworker children) or when schools re-open.
