Job Title: Positive Behaviour Support Worker
Axcis Education is working with a specialist school for pupils aged 2-19 who have severe learning disabilities (SLD) or profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD). Pupils may also have autistic spectrum conditions (ASC) and complex medical needs. The school delivers a holistic and sensory-rich environment with bespoke facilities and an inclusive vision focused on maximising outcomes for young people with complex needs.
Role Summary
As a Positive Behaviour Support Worker, you will:
Provide targeted behaviour support and emotional regulation strategies for pupils with SLD/PMLD, ASC and complex needs.
Work closely with class teams, therapists and senior colleagues to develop, implement and review personalised Positive Behaviour Support plans for individual pupils.
Use de-escalation techniques, proactive intervention and therapeutic approaches to enable pupils to engage meaningfully in their schooling and develop social, communication and independence skills.
Monitor behaviour data, report and reflect on patterns, support adaptations to practice and contribute to a supportive, consistent environment where pupils feel safe, valued and understood.
Assist in implementing strategies with class teams, support transitions or sensory regulation breaks, and help maintain a calm and responsive atmosphere across the setting.
Engage with families, multi-agency professionals and the wider school community to ensure a coordinated approach to each pupil’s needs and behaviour support.

Has experience, or a strong interest in developing experience, in working with children and young people with severe or complex learning needs and challenging behaviour.
Is confident in using positive behaviour strategies, recognising the importance of emotional regulation, sensory needs and individual triggers.
Can build trusting relationships, read non-verbal cues and adapt their approach day-to-day as pupils’ needs change.
Is calm, patient, consistent and resilient—and committed to making a difference in a specialist setting.
Works well as part of a team, but can also take initiative, support colleagues and reflect on their practice.
Shares the belief that every pupil deserves the opportunity to grow, learn, communicate and belong.
Why Apply?
Be part of a specialist provision with cutting-edge facilities and a clear mission to support pupils with complex needs.
Flexible hours and role options (full- or part-time) meaning a better work/life balance.
