Job Title: Part Time - Primary SEND Teaching Assitant - Exeter
Axcis are seeking a part time teaching assistant to support children with very challenging behaviour due to their SEND needs. The role will be working 3 or 4 days a week from Monday to Friday and pay a rate of £75 - £80 per day. As a teaching assistant your job will be to assist small groups of pupils in a classroom setting across various subjects. The school cater for primary and secondary aged pupils and group the children according to ability rather than age, so you will need to be prepared to work with children from KS1 and KS2. This school provides a creative & nurturing learning environment, in addition to a range of therapies that support student social development. The ideal candidate must be resilient and engaging with a passion to work with children and support their needs. Many of the children have autism, ADHD, and various learning difficulties that can express intense behaviours.The school has a lovely group of teaching assistants who work together to provide the best care. The school is based in Winkleigh a semi rural location, 45 minutes from Exeter, Barnstaple and Oakhampton. Attached to an existing primary special school with a great reputation, the new secondary building will house 20 KS3 to KS5 pupils who all display very challenging behaviours. The school offer a very flexible environment where there is the opportunity for outside learning and a variety of alternative educational projects. This is a temporary position. We anticipate that there will still be a need to fill this vacancy either on the expected timescale (as many of the schools we work with will remain open to support SEND/Keyworker children) or when schools re-open.
