Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 3:30pm
Contract: Temp to Permanent
Salary: £20,245 – £21,256
Mileage: 45p per mile petrol allowance

We are currently recruiting for a SEND Teaching Assistant to start ASAP, joining a supportive education setting in Totnes/South Devon. This rewarding role involves providing 1:1 Maths and English support to pupils who may be disengaged from mainstream education, helping them make meaningful progress both academically and personally.
The role will primarily be based at a dedicated classroom centre, with some outreach work and travel required between locations.
The Role
• Provide engaging 1:1 Maths and English interventions at KS2 and/or KS3 level.
• Support pupils who may have experienced difficulties accessing mainstream education.
• Build positive, trusting relationships and provide consistent encouragement.
• Help pupils develop confidence, independence and a more positive attitude towards learning.
• Use a calm and supportive approach when managing challenging behaviour or emotional needs.
• Keep accurate records of progress and communicate effectively with teaching staff, SENCOs and other professionals.
• Travel between locations when required, with 45p per mile mileage allowance provided.
We’re Looking For Someone Who:
• Has previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or in a similar role.
• Ideally has experience within SEND, alternative provision or specialist education.
• Has strong behaviour management skills and a patient, empathetic approach.
• Has a good understanding of needs such as ASD, ADHD and SEMH.
• Is confident supporting Maths and English at KS2 and/or KS3 level.
• Is approachable, reliable and able to build strong relationships with young people.
• Holds a full UK driving licence and has access to a reliable vehicle.
