Axcis are pleased to be working with an early years group in the South Gloucestershire area. The successful candidate will contribute to and support the overall development, learning and care of our pre-school children. This Early Years Assistant will contribute to the smooth running of our pre-school Provision and the maintenance of a safe and stimulating learning environment. Moreover, this new member of our staff will contribute to the development of the whole nursery. JOB CONTENT Main duties and responsibilities are indicated here. Other duties of an appropriate level and nature will also be required. 1. Contributing to the provision of a safe and stimulating learning environment, including: o Working as a member of a team in the delivery, planning and evaluation of a full and balanced range of learning experiences, which meet the emotional, physical, social and intellectual needs of the children in accordance with EYFS. -Be a role model practitioner, delivering high quality practice with children in the pre-school provision in line with the management guidance. -Sharing responsibility for the preparation of learning areas before children arrive, both indoors and outdoors. -Contributing to professional discussion and meetings with staff and other professionals. -Sharing the responsibility for mounting and displaying of children's work. -Participating at the end of the session in general clearing and tidying up, to maintain a safe and aesthetically pleasing learning environment in preparation for the next day. -Sharing in making decisions and recommendations about practice, routines and use of space to maximise the potential of the nursery experience for every child. -Taking joint responsibility for the daily monitoring and evaluating of children's responses to learning activities, through a range of assessment and monitoring strategies. -Participating in the general life of the nursery by attending, parents' meetings, nursery events and outings. -Identifying and monitoring suspected child abuse and children at risk, following appropriate guidelines and reporting to the designated safeguarding person. -Supporting the nursery's policy on parental participation, welcoming and working closely with parents. -Helping with first aid provision, comforting sick or injured children. In emergencies, liaising with the designated first aider senior staff. -Assisting in the liaison between home and nursery, paying particular attention to new admissions by helping children to settle. Helping children in the transition period between nursery and home and provision to provision -Supporting the development of language and communication skills using solid and consistent methods such us sustained shared thinking, open ended questions. -Understanding the varying cultural and religious backgrounds of the children and ensuring these are reflected in the learning experience. The role is to start asap and is a permanent position, directly through the nursery. We have placed many candidates here who go on to have long, happy careers.
