Job Title: Mental Health Teaching Assistant
Location: Brentford area Hours: Monday–Thursday, 8:30am–3:30pm | Friday, 8:30am–3:00pm We are looking for an SEMH Teaching Assistant who is a strong match for the student, rather than simply someone to fill the TA role. Ideally, the successful candidate will have experience working with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) students and be confident in building positive relationships with young people who may have become disengaged from education. The role would suit someone who is active, enthusiastic and able to engage students through activities such as sport, board games and other interests, while helping them to re-engage with learning, develop positive routines and build confidence. Axcis are currently working with a school in the Brentford area that is looking for an SEMH Teaching Assistant to work with secondary-aged students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, as well as vulnerable students. The ideal candidate will: -Have experience working with young people, ideally within an SEMH, alternative provision or similar environment. -Have a genuine interest in supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health needs. -Be confident building strong, positive relationships with students who may be disengaged from education. -Be patient, resilient and supportive, with the ability to manage challenging situations appropriately. -Be active and enthusiastic, with the ability to engage students through sport, board games and other activities. -Support students to develop positive routines and gradually re-engage with learning. -A PE or sports background would be advantageous, but is not essential. The school is part of a larger trust and invests heavily in its staff, facilities and the quality of education it provides to students.
