Job Title: Learning Disabilities Teaching Assistant
Learning Disabilities Teaching Assistant Full-time (08:30–16:30, 4 or 5 days a week) £13.70 per hour Starts in September; permanent after a 16-week settling-in period We’re working in partnership with a college on its Radstock campus to recruit a dedicated Learning Disabilities Teaching Assistant. You’ll support post-16 students with complex needs, learning disabilities and autism in hands-on, practical settings—helping them make real progress. What you’ll be doing: Providing patient 1:1 support during sessions across vocational settings such as animal care, construction and mechanics Helping learners engage safely with outdoor and workshop-based activities on the rural campus site with livestock, a construction skills centre and engineering workshops Building trust and confidence with learners who may struggle to regulate emotions and behaviour Working with an inclusive teaching team to adapt tasks and routines for each individual Who we’re looking for: We’re not focusing on formal experience. We need someone with compassion, emotional resilience and the ability to stay calm when working with vulnerable young adults. If you’re caring and reliable—someone who wants to be part of meaningful change—you could be the right match. Coaching, volunteering or youth work experience is welcome but not essential.
