You can choose the days you're available to work, giving you the freedom to fit meaningful work around your lifestyle.
What You'll Be Doing:
As a Teaching Assistant, you'll work alongside teachers to help pupils get the most from their time at school. Depending on the placement, you could be supporting children in a primary classroom, helping a secondary student stay engaged with their learning, or providing additional support within a specialist setting.
Your day-to-day responsibilities may include:
• Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups
• Helping students access classroom learning and activities
• Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement
• Supporting pupils with SEND and additional needs
• Helping children and young people develop confidence and independence
• Providing pastoral and emotional support where needed
• Building positive relationships with pupils and school staff
• Creating a safe, inclusive, and encouraging environment
Who Is This Role For?
This opportunity could be ideal if you're:
• A parent looking for school-hours work around childcare
• Studying and looking for flexible experience alongside your course
• Considering a career in teaching, psychology, youth work, or education
• Working on other projects, hobbies, or passions
• Looking to gain experience working with children and young people
• Experienced in care, support work, coaching, mentoring, or youth work
Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant is beneficial but not essential. What's most important is that you're reliable, adaptable, patient, and genuinely passionate about supporting young people.
The Benefits:
• Choose when you work – fit assignments around your availability
• School hours only – no evening or weekend work
• Variety – experience different schools, age groups, and settings
• Build your experience – develop valuable skills working with children and young people
• Career opportunities – potential to move into long-term or permanent positions
• Work-life balance – earn while keeping time for the things that matter to you
A Little More About the Role:
As an education recruitment agency, we work with a wide range of schools across Taunton and the surrounding areas, meaning we can offer opportunities to suit different interests and experience levels.
You may choose to work occasionally when your schedule allows, or build up a more regular pattern of work. There are also opportunities to secure longer-term placements and permanent roles for those who decide they would like to take the next step.
A driving licence and access to your own vehicle are required, as you may be travelling between different schools.
If you're looking for rewarding work that gives you the freedom to choose when you work, while gaining valuable experience supporting children and young people, we'd love to hear from you.
