Are you a recently graduated drama student who wants to gain experience working with children within special educational needs?
Axcis wants to hear from you.
We are recruiting teaching assistants in a variety of mainstream and special needs schools across Exeter. You need to have experience working with children or young people and have previous involvement supporting children or adults with additional needs, such as autism, Asperger's, downs syndrome, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties. The hours will be from 8:30-4:30pm and you need to be flexible working in a variety of settings with a host of children with different needs.
If you are a caring, friendly and patient individual seeking to gain experience within the special needs sector, then this could be just what you're looking for. The chosen candidate must have a can- do attitude and resilience. Even though the role is on a supply basis, there is the opportunity to apply for a long -term or permanent role with the right school. To work for us you must have a minimum of three months experience working with children or adults with learning disabilities.
Axcis are the leading supplier of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) staff in England and Wales and we offer excellent training opportunities, including CPD training sessions on Autism Awareness, Team Teach, Behaviour Management and Non-verbal Communication. As sponsors of the National Autistic Society and National Association for Special Educational Needs, we consider ourselves to be the ethical agency and have helped to fund numerous training and support initiatives which have helped to spread awareness and good practice.

This is a temporary position unless otherwise stated.
Please note: The details of this job are correct as of the start of the school closures. We anticipate that there will still be a need to fill this vacancy either on the expected timescale (as many of the schools we work with will remain open to support SEND/Keyworker children) or when schools re-open. We are therefore continuing to accept applications but please bear with us as there may be a delay on the listed start date due to the fact that the situation is continually evolving.
