Job Title: BSL Teaching Assistant
Full-Time BSL Teaching Assistant – September Start – Mainstream Primary School – Brent Axcis is proud to be working with a warm, inclusive mainstream primary school in Brent, which is seeking a British Sign Language (BSL) Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team from September. This is a full-time position based in a well-resourced specialist unit within the school, supporting deaf and hearing-impaired pupils across a range of ages. It's a rewarding opportunity for a passionate, skilled individual to make a lasting impact on students’ educational journeys. Key Responsibilities: Provide personalised 1:1 and small group support to deaf and hearing-impaired students. Use British Sign Language (BSL) to facilitate learning, communication, and social development. Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and external specialists to adapt learning materials and ensure inclusion. Support students’ emotional wellbeing, building their confidence, independence, and social skills. Monitor and track student progress, providing regular feedback to staff and parents. What We’re Looking For: Fluency in British Sign Language (BSL) – essential. Experience supporting deaf and hearing-impaired pupils in an educational or similar setting. A nurturing, adaptable approach with the ability to tailor support to individual needs. Strong teamwork and communication skills, with a genuine passion for inclusive education.
