Job Title: Behaviour Mentor
1:1 Behaviour Mentor – Year 3
Primary School | Haringey, N17 | September 2026 Start | Full Time | Term Time Only
Some children need more than behaviour management—they need someone who understands what their behaviour is trying to communicate.
We are looking for a resilient, compassionate and confident Behaviour Mentor to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 3 pupil who experiences challenges with emotional regulation. The successful candidate will become a consistent and trusted adult, helping the child develop the confidence, self-regulation and resilience needed to succeed both in and out of the classroom.
This role requires someone who can remain calm during moments of dysregulation, maintain clear and consistent boundaries and build a positive relationship based on trust and mutual respect. Every day will bring new opportunities to make a lasting difference to one child's school experience.
Key Responsibilities
Provide dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day, helping the pupil access learning and remain engaged in class.
Recognise early signs of dysregulation and use proactive strategies to prevent escalation.
Support the implementation of behaviour plans and restorative approaches.
Encourage the development of emotional literacy, resilience and positive coping strategies.
Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENDCo, parents and external professionals to ensure consistent support.
We're looking for someone who:
Has experience supporting children with behavioural, emotional or additional needs.
Builds positive relationships while maintaining high expectations and clear boundaries.
Is calm, patient and confident when responding to challenging situations.
Has strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
Brings enthusiasm, humour and a positive attitude to every school day.
Believes that with consistency, patience and the right support, every child can succeed.
