Axcis Education is proud to be working with an Ofsted-rated Outstanding primary school in Smethwick to recruit a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN).
This rewarding opportunity is ideal for an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant (LSA), or support worker who has a passion for helping children develop confidence, communication skills, and independence.

What You'll Be Doing
In this role, you'll work closely with children aged 4–11 years, helping them overcome communication barriers and fully engage in classroom life.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Supporting pupils with speech, language, and communication difficulties
Using communication tools such as PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) and Makaton
Delivering targeted interventions to develop language and social communication skills
• Encouraging positive interactions and peer relationships
Providing individual and small-group support within the classroom
• Building trusting, meaningful relationships with pupils
Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to support learning outcomes
Promoting confidence, independence, and emotional wellbeing
Ideal Candidate
We're looking for someone who is patient, proactive, and passionate about SEND education.
You should have:
• Previous experience supporting children with SEND, particularly speech and language needs or communication difficulties
• Knowledge of communication approaches such as PECS, Makaton, or similar strategies
• A nurturing, empathetic, and child-centred approach
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• An Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
• Availability for full-time work, Monday to Friday
