Job Title: Behaviour mentor
Behaviour Mentor – SEMH School
Location: HX2
Contract: Permanent (following a successful 6-week trial)
Hours: Full-Time, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM
Salary: £18,000 per annum
About the Role:
Axcis Education are currently seeking a committed and empathetic Behaviour Mentor to join our team at a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting young people with complex emotional needs, helping them thrive both academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities:
• Work closely with students who have SEMH needs and display challenging behaviours.
• Build strong, trusting relationships and serve as a positive role model.
• Develop and implement effective behaviour management strategies.
• Deliver one-to-one and small group interventions to build confidence, emotional regulation, and social skills.
• Collaborate with teachers, the SENCO, and other staff to create and maintain individual support plans.
• Help create a stable, nurturing learning environment.
• Monitor and report on students’ progress, contributing to ongoing review processes.
• Support with conflict resolution and provide crisis intervention when necessary.
• Uphold and promote the school’s safeguarding and behaviour policies.
Candidate Requirements:
• Proven experience working with children and young people with SEMH needs.
• Strong skills in managing challenging behaviour and delivering tailored interventions.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond effectively to crisis situations.
• Demonstrated ability to build rapport and influence positively.
• Team-focused, but also capable of working independently.
• Adaptable, resilient, and committed to the wellbeing of students.
• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to complete one).
