Job Title: Behaviour Mentor – SEND Specialist Setting Location: SEND Secondary School – Central Manchester Contract: Full-time (preferred) Start Date: September Are you driven to make a difference in the lives of young people with additional needs? Axcis Education is looking for a patient, emotionally aware and supportive professional to join a dedicated team in a specialist secondary school in Central Manchester. This is a full-time position and offers a rewarding opportunity to play a meaningful role in the day-to-day progress of students who benefit from additional support with behaviour and emotional regulation. The Role: In this role, you’ll work closely with students who present with a range of needs, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, and other complex behaviours. Your role will be to support them in regulating their emotions, staying focused in class, and building self-confidence in both learning and social situations. You'll act as a trusted adult, helping to create a calm, structured environment where every young person can feel safe, heard, and supported. Your Responsibilities Will Include: - Supporting students on a 1:1 basis or in small groups throughout the school day - Helping students manage behaviour through consistency, routine and positive relationships - Working collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff and therapists to support individual student plans - Promoting positive social skills and emotional development - Assisting students with learning tasks, class participation, and transitions between lessons - Monitoring and reporting on progress and areas of concern to the wider pastoral/SEND team - Contributing to a safe, respectful and nurturing school culture Who We’re Looking For: We’re keen to hear from individuals who have: - Experience supporting young people with SEND or behavioural needs (school, youth work, residential care or similar) - A calm, emotionally intelligent approach, especially in challenging moments - An interest or background in Autism, SEMH, ADHD, speech and language delay or trauma-informed practice - Strong communication skills and a team-focused attitude - Confidence in managing challenging behaviour with empathy and structure - A valid Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one prior to start) Why Join Axcis?
