Pay: £92.63 per day Job Type: Full-Time, Monday to Friday (8:30am - 4:00pm) Start Date: Immediate SEND Teaching Assistant Job in Birmingham Axcis Education is recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist educational setting in Birmingham. This rewarding role involves supporting pupils aged 9-16 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), all of whom have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). Many pupils also present with additional needs, including ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, attachment difficulties, and communication challenges. The setting provides a structured, nurturing environment where pupils are supported both academically and emotionally. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping students engage with learning, develop independence, and build positive relationships. The Role As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will: • Support pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) on a 1:1 basis and in small groups. • Assist students in accessing lessons and achieving individual learning targets. • Support pupils with additional needs, including ADHD, SEMH needs, and communication difficulties. • Encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and social development. • Build trusting and consistent relationships with pupils. • Support the delivery of tailored interventions and personalised support strategies. • Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral teams, and other professionals. • Create a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment. • Promote independence, confidence, and engagement in learning. Requirements To be successful in this role, you should have: • Previous experience supporting children or young people with Autism, SEND, SEMH, or behavioural needs. • Experience within education, care, support work, youth work, or similar settings. • A patient, resilient, and nurturing approach. • Strong communication and behaviour management skills. • The ability to remain calm and consistent when supporting pupils with complex needs. • An understanding of EHCPs and individual support strategies is desirable. • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one. • Availability to work full-time, Monday to Friday.
