Most days you will be based at the school and for 1 day per week you will accompany small group of students to outdoor educational activities across South Devon. The pupils in this school exhibit very challenging behaviour so experience of working in an intense environment s and high levels of resilience are essential. This role is only suitable for candidates who have worked within a youth offending or pupil referral type of environment. The school unit uses therapeutic approaches such as thrive to help pupils with social emotional and mental health needs to become confident and happy young people who are capable of regulating their emotions and contributing positively to society. A lot of these children have had difficult home lives and have been let down many times. You must have a calm nature and ability to de-escalate situations. We are looking for someone who is unfazed by challenging behaviour and those trained in Team Teach and MAPA would be at an advantage. These children need a positive role model and the right candidate will be resilient, empathetic and understanding. The role is full time (8.30am to 3.30pm) and will start ASAP on an ongoing basis until the end of the academic year. The right candidate will be an inventive and positive worker who has a proactive attitude and will be calm and resilient in difficult situations. You will be a positive role model and will have a chance to make a real difference to a child's life. A full driving licence is essential. For this role, you must have an enhanced DBS certificate dated within the previous 3 years. Axcis Education is a specialist recruiter for special needs education. We are therefore continuing to accept applications but please bear with us as there may be a delay on the listed start date due to the fact that the situation is continually evolving.
