A lovely, well respected and inspiring Special School (SEN/SEND) in South London (Southwark) urgently requires experienced, confident and pro-active Youth Workers/Teaching Assistants (TA), to provide individual and class support to students aged 11-19 affected with autistic spectrum disorders/conditions (ASD/ASC).
A large proportion of students who attend this school display challenging behaviour. Therefore the successful Youth Workers/Teaching Assistant (TA) will have gained previous experience within a similar setting, working with students/staff to implement behaviour plans and promote positive behaviour by acting as a role model. Those with an in depth understanding of ASD/ASC behaviours and alternative communication tools (PECS/Makaton) will be at an advantage.
This SEN/SEND school are looking to recruit initially on a temporary, long term basis. There is a high probability that these positions will turn permanent for exceptional candidates. Hours are from 8:15am- 3:30/4pm, term time only, to start ASAP.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Youth Worker/Teaching Assistant (TA) or Graduate, looking to develop their experience with SEN/SEND education. Extention into September 2015 is highly likely for exceptional candidates.
You must be suitably qualified for the position advertised and be prepared to attend a face to face interview with Axcis Education to demonstrate your suitability for this role.
