Axcis are currently recruiting youth workers for teaching assistant roles in and around Bath and the surrounding areas. We particularly want to talk to people who are unfazed by challenging behaviour, who are resilient and can remain calm under pressure. Those trained in Team Teach or MAPA will be at an advantage although this is not essential. If you are interested in transitioning to teaching assistant work, we work with a number of pupil referral units in the Bath area who are looking for people experienced in challenging behaviour and emotional behavioural disorders.
If you're looking to make a positive change in the world then this is your chance. A lot of these children have had difficult home lives and have been let down many times. You must have a calm nature, be unfazed by challenging behaviour and have the ability to de-escalate situations - these children need a positive role model and the right candidate will be resilient, empathetic and understanding. If you make a positive impression at this referral unit a lot of our ad-hoc work turns into long term positions. You will need to be able to use public transport or have your own vehicle to get to the different schools around Bath.
If you're looking for a supply agency that offers work in special schools and/or alternative provisions then Axcis is the recruitment agency for you. We can offer you a great daily rate and incentives like our monthly SEND giveaway prize, a refer a friend option that pays our £50 for referring a teaching assistant to us and £100 for teacher, as well as the opportunity to be nominated for (and possibly win) our sought-after Candidate of the Term award. We consider ourselves to be the ethical agency and work closely with the national autistic society (NAS) and the national association of special educational needs (nasen) we have helped to fund numerous training and support initiatives which have helped to spread awareness and good practice.
This is a temporary position.
If you are interested, then please contact Charise Clarke at Axcis Education on 0117 373 6127.
This is a temporary position unless otherwise stated.
Please note: The details of this job are correct as of the start of the school closures. We anticipate that there will still be a need to fill this vacancy either on the expected timescale (as many of the schools we work with will remain open to support SEND/Keyworker children) or when schools re-open. We are therefore continuing to accept applications but please bear with us as there may be a delay on the listed start date due to the fact that the situation is continually evolving.
