Job Title: Wandsworth TA- January 2024
Unqualified Primary Teaching Assistant- 1:1 Autism Support
Axcis are currently working with a mainstream primary school in the Wandsworth area that require a full-time teaching assistant to provide 1:1 support for an Autistic year 5 pupil. The child enjoys English and Maths but often struggles with maintaining focus and will benefit from a TA who has experience in supporting students in a similar capacity. The primary teaching assistant will engage the child, providing them with creative learning tools when they become distracted from the lesson.
This role is long-term.
The mainstream primary school is based in Wandsworth, in very accessible location within the borough of Wandsworth. The school caters for primary aged children with classes of up to 25 children, a few of whom will have children with aspects of special needs. The school is a strong advocate for providing the necessary support to pupils that require it. Therefore, they have facilitated the building with a sensory and therapy room to ensure each child has the tools to develop within a mainstream environment.
The ideal candidate for this Primary Teaching Assistant role will:
- Have experience working in either a school, care, or childcare setting
- Understanding of autism and knowledge of helpful behavioural strategies to support children with their development
- Show creativity and patience in their approach to the role
- Hold an enhanced DBS on the update service (if you do not have this Axcis can assist you in attaining one- fee of £45)
