Job Title: Visual Impairment - Teaching Assistant - Exeter
Axcis have a wonderful opportunity working with a school in Exeter who specialize in visual impairment. The school requires a full time teaching assistant to support children aged from 14 - 25 years old, with VI and moderate learning difficulties. Many of the children have complex needs, so we are seeking a candidate who has experience working with these requirements. The role is from 8:45 - 3:45, Monday to Friday and pays a rate of £75 per day. The school has outstanding resources including therapy sessions, a hydro pool, an art sensory room, mobility training and their very own VI radio station produced and presented by the students. The school has a free car park and is easy to get to by bus. The suitable candidate will be passionate in their role to support children with complex needs in a classroom environment. You must also be caring, a good communicator and determined. The classes are grouped according to ability in small groups with up to 6 children per class. If you have previous experience working with people who have VI and would like to work in a lovely school, then please get in touch. With the right candidates our roles can lead to a permanent position which could lead to further training such as NVQ's and online courses. This is a temporary position. If you are interested, then please contact Kirsty OReilly at Axcis Education on .

This is a temporary position unless otherwise stated.

Please note: The details of this job are correct as of the start of the school closures. We anticipate that there will still be a need to fill this vacancy either on the expected timescale (as many of the schools we work with will remain open to support SEND/Keyworker children) or when schools re-open. We are therefore continuing to accept applications but please bear with us as there may be a delay on the listed start date due to the fact that the situation is continually evolving.

Axcis is an equal opportunities employer. The company is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

All staff will be subject to our stringent vetting procedures, which include an enhanced DBS, full work history, references and a face-to-face interview.

Axcis Education is an employment agency offering temporary supply work for daily, short-term and long-term assignments in addition to permanent positions.
