We are working in partnership with a highly regarded, Outstanding-rated SEN Primary School in Brent, located close to Kensal Rise and Brondesbury Park stations. The school is looking for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to provide day-to-day cover, with the opportunity for the role to develop into a full-time, permanent position for the right candidate.
The school offers modern, purpose-built SEN facilities and a nurturing, inclusive environment where staff work collaboratively to support pupils with a range of complex needs.
The Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:
Provide 1:1 and small-group support to primary-aged pupils with Autism and complex needs, in line with their EHCPs.
Support tailored learning interventions alongside the class teacher and wider SEN team.
Use alternative communication methods such as Makaton, PECS, or similar strategies to promote communication and engagement.
Provide personal care respectfully and professionally where required.
Support pupils' social, emotional, and independence skills.
Contribute positively to the classroom environment and the progress of every pupil.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
Has experience supporting children with Autism and/or complex SEN.
Is confident using alternative communication methods such as Makaton, PECS, or similar approaches.
Is comfortable providing personal care where required.
Works well as part of a collaborative and supportive team.
Has excellent communication skills.
Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to apply for one.
