Job Title: Teaching Assistant Location: Martock, Somerset Salary: £90 per day Hours: Full-time, 8.30 am - 3.30 pm Are you passionate about supporting the educational journey of young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs? Do you have a talent for managing behaviour and fostering a positive learning environment? If so, we invite you to become an integral part of an education team in Martock, Somerset. Key Responsibilities: - Assist in the educational and social development of students under the direction and guidance of the headteacher and class teachers. - Work with students who require additional support due to SEMH, employing strategies to promote effective learning and positive behaviour. - Collaborate with teachers to prepare learning materials and resources that cater to students' individual needs. - Supervise students during classroom activities and ensure their safety and well-being at all times. - Implement behaviour management plans consistently while responding to challenging behaviours calmly and effectively. - Foster an inclusive atmosphere where learners feel safe, respected, and encouraged to participate in classroom activities. - Monitor and record students' progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to assessments and reports. - Liaise with other professionals, such as therapists and counselors, to support student's health and development. - Accompany and supervise students on outings or at events outside the school environment when needed. Requirements: - Prior experience working with children or young people, particularly in an educational setting dealing with SEMH challenges. - Strong understanding of the strategies needed for managing behaviour in children with additional learning needs. - A patient, compassionate approach and the ability to stay calm under pressure. - Excellent communication skills and the capacity to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals. - The willingness to undertake any necessary training and professional development. - A valid driving license is required due to the location of the school and the potential need to support students in off-site activities. - Undergo and clear necessary background checks, including an Enhanced DBS check.
