Job Title: Teaching Assistant - Secondary Location: Manchester, Greater Manchester Job Type: Full-time Hours: 8.30 AM to 3.30 PM Salary: £89 - £95 per day Job Description: We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant secondary school in Manchester. The ideal candidate will have a passion for education and the ability to support and enrich the lives of young people aged 11-16. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with students who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Key Responsibilities: - Assist in the educational and social development of students under the guidance and supervision of the classroom teacher. - Work with individual students or small groups to help them understand and complete their work. - Support students with SEMH and SEND ensuring they have access to the curriculum and can engage effectively in learning. - Monitor student progress and report observations to the teacher. - Prepare classroom materials and resources as needed. - Maintain a safe and nurturing classroom environment. - Foster positive relationships with students, staff, and parents. - Assist with the planning and implementation of individual Education Plans (IEPs). - Contribute to the management of student behavior in the classroom and surrounding areas. - Provide administrative support to teachers if required. Essential Criteria: - Experience working with young people aged 11-16 in secondary settings or in roles involving young people. - At least 6 months of continuous classroom-based experience. - Experience working with young people with SEMH and SEND needs. - Level 2 or Level 3 qualifications in a relevant field preferred, but not essential. - Proactive and reliable with a commitment to professional development. - Ability to build rapport with students and colleagues. - Effective communication and organisational skills.
