Axcis is working with a fantastic mainstream secondary school in Bristol to recruit a 1:1 teaching assistant to work with a year 6 child with cerebral palsy. The role is part time, four days a week Tuesday- Friday and the hours are 8:30-3:30pm. This is a temporary role with potential to become more long term for the right candidate. The school has a fantastic support structure and offers excellent resources for all staff that work there. The school is easily accessible via local public transport links and staff retention is excellent due to their welcoming atmosphere. This position is one to one support for a child with cerebral palsy and you will be expected to assist with moving and handling as they have mobility issues. The role will include supporting the child during meal times as well as assisting with personal care where required. A professional manner and the understanding of how to build self esteem in others is also a must. The ideal candidate will be an experienced SEND teaching assistant who has worked with children with physical disabilities in a special needs environment. This is a temporary position. If you are interested, then please contact Dan Davey at Axcis Education on 0117 373 6127.

This is a temporary position unless otherwise stated.

Please note: The details of this job are correct as of the start of the school closures. We anticipate that there will still be a need to fill this vacancy either on the expected timescale (as many of the schools we work with will remain open to support SEND/Keyworker children) or when schools re-open. We are therefore continuing to accept applications but please bear with us as there may be a delay on the listed start date due to the fact that the situation is continually evolving.

Axcis is an equal opportunities employer. The company is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

All staff will be subject to our stringent vetting procedures, which include an enhanced DBS, full work history, references and a face-to-face interview.

Axcis Education is an employment agency offering temporary supply work for daily, short-term and long-term assignments in addition to permanent positions.
