Teaching Assistant Aspergers - Newport - Newport - Role: SEND TA Jobs
Axcis is working with a fantastic mainstream secondary school in Newport to recruit a 1:1 teaching assistant working with a child with Aspergers. The school has a very friendly atmosphere and a supportive environment, and is well liked by all staff we have sent to them in the past. It's a supportive vibrant school where students thrive and come to learn.
This position is one to one support for a child with Aspergers, the job starts in September, is five days a week 8:30-3:30pm and is till the end of term. You will be a role model, mentor and daily support to the child you will be working with and will need to be able to quickly build rapport with them. The child has limited communication and experience with Makaton and/or PECS would be advantageous but not essential for this post.
You will need to be adaptable, flexible and you must have an understanding of working with young people with special educational needs and disabilities and have a real desire to make a difference.
