Description:
Axcis are working with a secondary SEND provision in Hackney that supports students with ASD and SEMH who are working significantly below age-related expectations.
Teaching is delivered at a primary or early secondary level, making this role ideal for a primary-trained teacher who is confident teaching literacy and numeracy to older pupils.
Classes are small, behaviour is supported by experienced staff, and the focus is on engagement, structure and emotional development rather than exams.
Key responsibilities:
• Teaching small groups of secondary-aged pupils
• Delivering lessons at primary-level ability
• Supporting pupils with ASD and SEMH
• Working closely with support staff and SENCO
• Promoting positive behaviour and engagement
Ideal candidate:
• Primary-trained teacher with QTS
• Comfortable teaching older pupils at lower academic levels
• Experience with SEND, ASD or SEMH preferred
• Resilient, calm and adaptable
