Axcis are pleased to be working with a lovely college on the outskirts of Highbridge who are looking to recruit someone experienced in working with secondary students with social emotional and mental health needs. You will be working in small groups providing general in class support. You will need to be able to establish a good working relationship with the students very quickly.
A lot of the students display very challenging behaviour so resilience is a must. The role is full time (8.30am to 4 pm) and there are also night and weekend shifts also ( 4-10 pm and 10pm-7am). The various roles are all to start ASAP and are all available on an ongoing long term basis. The right candidate will be an inventive and positive support worker who has a proactive attitude and will be calm and resilient in difficult situations. You will be a positive role model and will have a chance to make a real difference to a child's life.
This lovely college approaches thrives to help pupils with social emotional and mental health needs to become confident and happy young people who are capable of regulating their emotions and contributing positively to society. They are extremely welcoming, have a fantastic support structure and offer excellent resources for all staff that work there. A lot of these children have had difficult home lives and have been let down many times and so require consistency with their staff.
We are looking for someone who is unfazed by challenging behaviour and those trained in Team Teach and MAPA would be at an advantage. These children need a positive role model and the right candidate will be resilient, empathetic and understanding. You must have a calm nature and ability to de-escalate situations.
For this role, you must have an enhanced DBS certificate dated within the previous 3 years.
This is a temporary position.

Please note: The details of this job are correct as of the start of the school closures. We anticipate that there will still be a need to fill this vacancy either on the expected timescale (as many of the schools we work with will remain open to support SEND/Keyworker children) or when schools re-open. We are therefore continuing to accept applications but please bear with us as there may be a delay on the listed start date due to the fact that the situation is continually evolving.
