Support Worker / Core Subjects Tutor - Residential - KS3/4 - HYDE - Tameside Axcis Education are in need of a Tutor / Support worker with a holistic approach to tutor a small group of secondary aged boys, with SEMh, Complex Needs and Challenging Behaviour core subjects, to keep them in an education and routine whilst new placements are being sourced. The boys in the school have all had difficult and tumultuous starts in life so will be in need of people to connect with them quickly on a professional basis, and develop a trusting working relationship with them to assist in their transitions. Many of the boys will also have attachement needs, having come from disadvantaged and/or abuse backgrounds. Therefore a lot of the curriculum will need to be designed to match their needs. Forest schools, outdoor, and sporting activities are often encouraged, as is general life skills and citizenship studies, with a view to teach them independence ready for when they ultimately move on to independent living arrangements. This is a temporary position unless otherwise stated.

Please note: The details of this job are correct as of the start of the school closures. We anticipate that there will still be a need to fill this vacancy either on the expected timescale (as many of the schools we work with will remain open to support SEND/Keyworker children) or when schools re-open. We are therefore continuing to accept applications but please bear with us as there may be a delay on the listed start date due to the fact that the situation is continually evolving.
