Axcis is working with a FE College in the outskirts of Bristol to recruit for a 1-1 Learning Support Assistant, Specialist College, Young Adults, ASD role. Working with students with ASD or Moderate Learning Difficulties you will support the students with various activities. The college has a very friendly atmosphere and a nurturing & supportive environment. The students thrive within this college where they learn practical work based skills and spend plenty of time in an outdoor learning capacity. This position is one to one support for a student between the ages of 17 to 25 with either ASD or MLD. The role is for five days a week, 9am to 3.45pm (4.15pm finish on Wednesday) and is until April 2020. You will be a role model, mentor and daily support to your student so the ability to build rapport and trust is essential. The student may display behavioural difficulties as a result of their condition so resilience and previous experience is essential. You will need to be adaptable, flexible and you must have an understanding of working with young adults with special educational needs and disabilities and have a real desire to make a difference. As sponsors of the National Autistic Society and other notable SEND organisations, Axcis takes it duty of care to the profession seriously and we do our best to find only the best staff for the schools we work with. Successful candidates will have an enhanced DBS or must be prepared to apply and pay for a new one. In addition, you must be a car driver with your own vehicle. This is a temporary position.
