Axcis are working with a FE College in the outskirts of Bristol who are looking for 1-1 Learning Support Assistants to work with students with ASD or Mild/ Moderate Learning Difficulties. As part of the day to day role, you will support the students with their studies and assist them with if necessary with their daily routine. The college has a very friendly atmosphere and a nurturing & supportive environment. The students thrive within this college where they are given a lot of time, support, encouragement and opportunity to learn and develop. The positions available are to support students aged between 17-25 on a 1:1 basis. The college offer a very flexible timetable dependant on the needs of the students. There are full time Monday - Friday 0830-1600 hours, part time 2/3 mornings a week hours and everything in between so there is something for everyone! You will be a role model, mentor and daily support to your student so the ability to build rapport and trust is essential. The student may display behavioural difficulties as a result of their condition so resilience and previous experience is essential. You will need to be adaptable, flexible and you must have an understanding of working with young adults with special educational needs and disabilities and have a real desire to make a difference. As sponsors of the National Autistic Society and other notable SEND organisations, Axcis takes it duty of care to the profession seriously and we do our best to find only the best staff for the schools we work with. These roles available at the college are to start as soon as possible and will likely continue until the end of the academic year for successful candidates. For these available roles, you will need to have an enhanced Child and Adult DBS or must be prepared to apply and pay for a new one. This is a temporary position.
