Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM

We’re looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual with a background in sports coaching to join a welcoming and inclusive team this September. This full-time position involves working in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) school settings across Exeter, supporting pupils through physical education and movement-based learning as part of a wider teaching team.
About the Role:
In this role, you'll play a vital part in supporting children with SEND by delivering inclusive sports activities and encouraging participation in physical education. You will be working closely with teaching staff to integrate physical activity into the daily routine and help foster confidence, coordination, and teamwork in young learners.
Your Main Duties Will Include:
Assisting with structured PE sessions tailored for students with diverse learning needs.
Using a range of sports coaching approaches to promote engagement and progress.
Creating a positive, secure, and inclusive environment where students can develop physical and social skills.
Collaborating with classroom teachers and support staff to reinforce learning through movement.
Observing and tracking pupil engagement and development in physical tasks.
Supporting sports-based events and extracurricular activities, including team games and competitions.
Encouraging cooperation, resilience, and self-esteem through group activities.
Assisting with classroom duties and individual student needs during non-PE time.
Participating in team meetings, relevant training, and continuing professional development.
What We’re Looking For:
A coaching qualification in sports or a degree related to Physical Education/Sports Science.
Experience working with children – any exposure to SEND settings is highly desirable.
A sound understanding of safeguarding principles and commitment to student welfare.
Adaptable coaching skills tailored to a variety of abilities and learning profiles.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
A calm, proactive, and patient approach to working with young people.
An up-to-date Enhanced DBS check, or willingness to obtain one.
