Axcis are currently recruiting special needs teachers to cover on the day, short term and long term roles in mainstream, special needs schools, alternative provisions and pupil referral units. Get in touch if you're looking for flexible ad-hoc work. This is a great way to gain a lot of experience working in a variety of settings with different ages to help you find your niche.
We want to hear from teachers who have experience teaching pupils with special needs such as autism, ADHD and downs syndrome. Many of our consultants come from an education or care background and so we pride ourselves on the knowledge of the sector. We have devoted ourselves to establishing strong relationships with schools and many of our staff enjoy their time working in the schools. We often receive positive feedback from the schools about our consultants and the candidates we place.
Ideally you will be up and ready in the morning to accept bookings with pre prepared work you can deliver in the classroom. You must treat every assignment as if it is a permanent role and be approachable, professional and able to use your initiative. Even if you're only there for the day you will need to be able to build good rapport with your fellow staff members and students. Following the schools behaviour policies and having good classroom management skills are a must. If you have experience developing and implementing EHC plans and can teach specific subjects even better. Qualities that will make you a good supply teacher: you need to be calm, professional and confident teaching within a specialist setting.
Axcis pay weekly on a Friday and can offer you fantastic rates of pay and a refer a friend scheme where you can earn up to £250 in high-street vouchers. We also provide access to regular training events and seminars with renowned SEND Professionals as well as working in partnership with NAS (National Autistic Society) and nasen (National Association of Special Educational Needs).
This is a temporary position.
