About the Role:
We are seeking a caring, patient, and highly skilled Special Needs Teacher with a passion for supporting students with ASD and ADHD to join our all-through school in Islington, London. The ideal candidate will have a proven record of successfully managing and teaching children with varied educational and behavioural needs, leading to positive learning outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, deliver, and assess individualised education programmes that cater to the specific needs of students with ASD and ADHD.
- Use evidence-based teaching methods and interventions to engage students and facilitate their social, emotional, and academic development.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning styles and abilities of each student in a mixed-ability classroom.
- Employ a variety of strategies to promote positive behaviour and create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
- Collaborate with other professionals, including teaching assistants, therapists, and external agencies, to ensure a coordinated approach to the students' education and wellbeing.
- Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers, providing updates on their child’s progress and strategies to support learning at home.
- Assume responsibility for the academic records and progress reports of all students in the class.
Qualifications:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is required.
- Degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field.
- Proven experience teaching children with ASD and ADHD.
- A profound understanding of the curriculum and strategies suited to the individual needs of students with SEN.
- Strong classroom management skills with an empathetic and patient approach.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with staff, students, and parents.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development in special educational needs.
