Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant
SEND Teaching Assistant – Primary – Tower Hamlets
£100–£115 per day | Full-Time | Long-Term | Tower Hamlets
Axcis Education is recruiting an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to work within a welcoming primary school in Tower Hamlets, supporting pupils with a range of additional learning, communication and emotional needs.
This is a full-time, long-term opportunity for someone who is confident providing a mixture of 1:1 support, small-group intervention and classroom assistance. You may be supporting children with Autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH and additional learning difficulties, helping them access learning while becoming increasingly confident and independent.
The school is looking for someone who is calm, proactive and genuinely good at building relationships with children — someone who can adapt their approach to the individual pupil rather than relying on the same strategy for everyone.
About the Role
Supporting pupils across EYFS, KS1 and KS2
Working with children with Autism, ADHD, speech and language needs and SEMH
Providing 1:1 and small-group support
Helping pupils access phonics, literacy, numeracy and wider classroom learning
Supporting focus, communication and emotional regulation
Following individual EHCP targets and support strategies
Using visual resources and structured routines where appropriate
Helping pupils manage transitions and changes throughout the school day
Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider SEND team
Encouraging pupils to develop confidence, resilience and independence
About You
We would particularly like to hear from candidates who:
Have previous experience as a SEND TA, LSA or similar support professional
Have strong school-based SEND experience
Have supported pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH or speech and language needs
Are confident working 1:1 and with small groups
Understand how to support pupils without creating dependency
Can remain calm when a child becomes unsettled or dysregulated
Are reliable, proactive and comfortable using initiative
Hold a CACHE Level 2 or Level 3 qualification – highly desirable but not essential
Can commit to a full-time, long-term position
The School & Location
The role is based within a primary school in Tower Hamlets, with strong transport links from Poplar, Canary Wharf, Bow, Mile End, Stratford and surrounding East London areas. This would suit someone who enjoys becoming a consistent part of a school community and wants to build long-term relationships with pupils rather than moving between short-term placements.
