We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Teaching Assistant to join our inclusive team in Wandsworth, London. As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing one-to-one support and creating a nurturing learning environment for students with a range of special educational needs.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the headteacher and class teachers.
• Support individuals with special educational needs, including but not limited to, ASD, ADHD, and dyslexia, ensuring their access to the curriculum and enabling them to achieve their full potential.
• Adapt resources and implement strategies to meet the diverse needs of learners.
• Encourage the independence and self-confidence of students while maintaining a safe and positive environment.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to facilitate effective communication and a cohesive support network.
• Assist with the planning and preparation of activities, monitoring progress, and providing feedback to teachers.
• Manage behaviour effectively through established frameworks and contribute to the protection and safeguarding of students.
Qualifications & Skills:
• Previous experience as a SEND TA or within a supportive role in education is preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children and educators.
• A patient, caring, and adaptable approach to working with children with varied needs.
• Relevant NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or willingness to undertake training.
