A specialist school in Farnworth, Bolton (BL4) supporting pupils with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) and ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant for the 2025/2026 academic year. This role offers the chance to gain hands-on experience in a specialist setting while supporting children with additional needs to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEMH and ASD
• Assist teachers in planning and delivering lessons tailored to individual needs
• Support pupils’ emotional, social, and behavioural development
• Help maintain a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
• Prepare and organise learning materials and resources
• Monitor pupil progress and communicate observations to teaching staff
• Contribute to school activities and wider pupil support initiatives
Requirements:
• Experience working with children with SEND is desirable but not essential
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting pupils
• Interest or experience in SEMH and ASD support is advantageous
• Commitment to helping children achieve their full potential
